Marlin 308 MX ???

Delsellins is selling a Marlin mx308 in EE and says it is not and will not fire standard 308,s??
? Is this true? I've been around a while and never heard of a 308MX!! Some body fill me in please. Thanks JITC

This is a brand new round brought out by Marlin and I think Hornady. Similar to 307 win but not quite. Close to 308 but closer to 300 savage. Nice 250 yard lever rifle.

The 308 Marlin is a rimmed cartridge and is NOT interchangeable with the 308 Winchester. It supposed to give relatively similar performance. I believe that it was developed because of the tube magazine in Marlins and Marlin did not want the liability of someone using spitzer bullet 308 Win and having the bullets set each other off during recoil.

It's an interesting round, but personally I think if you want a 308 lever, get a Savage 99 or a Winchester 88 or a BLR. then you can use whatever 308 ammo you want.

I looked at these when they first came out but too fussy for me and nobody here stocks the ammo. Or the bullets to reload as yet. Bought a lovely 99c 308 and could care less now. Just my $0.02
