Marlin 336 30-30. Thoughts and comments on this rifle?

The 336 is a fine, and well made rifle. It's worth the $250 all day long. A scope fits easily on it, because it's a nice flat top receiver, and angle eject. Nice fast handling bush rifle, with a shotgun style butt plate for quick shouldering. Heck...for $250 go buy it and never look back.

This is my first time trying to put up pics. Hope it works.

That's the cheaper version of the 336. I think 30A? Same old Marlin quality just a beech instead of walnut stock. I actually like the lines of the 30A better than the 336. It will serve you well. I see lots of 30A advertised at 350 and up.

it is high.... but you should be good out to 200 with it... and if not you can get something different.... I am not a lever guy... but those rifle shold history... hope you like it

You did well on that one.
I would lose the suit case handle
and lower the scope, but just my opinion.
If you decide you don't wish to keep it, pm me as
I know a home for it.
Bring a target photo back from the range and show us
how well she/you shoot................ :)

Thanks. I really like it. Got a few days left of deer season so I may get it in the bush friday. Any experience with the new winchester protected hollow point rounds?? i bought some to try. Look like a solid built projectile.

Will do and I agree about lowering the scope. Don't need that kinda elevation on a bush gun lol. Is a nice plus seeing the irons, but a better cheek weld will probably be helpful in feild shooting conditions.

I love mine, just picked up one made in 2008 or so for $300 in mint condition and I absolutely love it. Can't wait to take it hunting!

Long as Bubba has not had his way and its intact with a good barrel then I would buy it for $250 easy. Gotta love a levergun designed so you can clean the barrel from the chamber out. I always seem to either have a Marlin or be looking for one. I prefer them over 94s myself and believe them to be much more robust.

I'm now using LeverEvolution 140 gr. Monoflex in my 30.30. Can't imagine ammo for a 30.30 gets any better than this!

This is a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-10x40 Compact set on a Leupold one-piece base and Burris Signature medium rings. Nice and tidy, rock solid, and I don't need one of those flaky hammer extensions! My Marlin is now an honest 250 yd rifle.

And for heaven's sake, if it doesn't have swivel slings and you wish to install them, the Marlin has the Bullseye on the bottom rear wood, don't use this spot.
I cringe and think the Marlin Lord's above send nasty do-do's down this way
when someone Bubbas it.

X2 on the Leverevolution accuracy. Shooting it in my 45/70 Highwall was a massive eye opener. 1 in groups first time I shot it at 100m with the Leverevolution stuff thru tang sights. I have got some of the bullets and am picking up a can of the Leverevolution powder in the next few days. Making my own Leverevolution ammo shortly and may take it to a 30-30.

I have heard great things about the hornady stuff. My cousin shoots the .45-70 and got a doe last year and a small buck this year. Before the buck however a coyote decided it was wise to charge his position. Twenty yards head on and well Dead dog never stopped so fast lol. Also I had the .30-30 out friday and at 100yards off hand its grouped a bit over two inches. Not bad but a rest will help.
