I recently picked up a 35 rem, and love the rifle so far. Great to pack, and so far fits me better than the Winchester’s have in the past. My eyes don’t like any factory sights so I am looking for some options for a receiver sight... I don’t need anything fancy, just something that I can set and forget. This gun will be used for bush, and to have out while picking berries, fishing, wilderness adventure, etc. I don’t want a sight that takes up the whole top of the receiver, as it affects carry comfort. Just a rear receiver sight would be great. I don’t expect to take shots over the 100 yards, and if I do I will have time to adjust manually with hold over.

Thanks for the input!

My first choice would be an XS sight. They be best in the rough stuff and fast on acquisition.

X2, love mine (also a 35 Remington)

Where did you get the sight and how was it to setup? I see they say they don't ship to Canada?

I believe I ordered them from Brownells. I really love these sights, all of 10 min to install them and simple to sight in. I find the big open sight easier for fast target acquisition compared to a peep sight. I'm confident out to 150yrds with this set up.

I have and XS set for 336 with two peeps and the front sight for sale ...pm me if interested. Bumped it in the optics/sights equipment exchange.

I purchased something else by XS, got it from Brownells.

The the standard XS aperture is .190 & the extra included one is .230 which be a hula-hoop to some. ;)

Thanks ..... Just measured a Redfield receiver sight for a 336 I have here. It goes 0.160" ID with the insert removed.

0.190" & 0.230" seems big.

I do not remember getting two different sized apertures, but the one on mine is the 0.23". Seems pretty big at first but once I was used to it I wouldn't change it. I tried a Skinner peep sight on another 336 and just found it slow to get on target. Also remember that the XS front sight is also quite large itself.

Here is a better pick of the aperture.
