Marlin 336 bolt/firing pin query

I was given an old Marlin 336 and took the bolt out.

I'm not sure how these are supposed to be constructed, but I see that the firing pin is in two pieces.

In mine, the forward part of the rear firing pin is tipping upwards rather than facing straight towards the forward firing pin.

Am I missing the firing pin spring? (Number 8 in diagram linked below)

Totally normal. That spring keeps it from tipping upward on it's own. The locking block forces it upwards inline with the forward firing pin extension once the bolt is completely locked. What you have is a safety device engineered into the design of the gun.
