Marlin 336 first time cleaning, got an extra part?

Yep, I can see that plainly now. Super thin plastic on that follower. Ruger needs to toss that setup. I spin my own followers from brass. If I grab a fresh RM Marlin, I'll just play on the lathe for short spell.
 
thanks for all the inputs. as for why I take them apart, I just like to fck around and see how lever guns work.lol

It's good to know how a rifle works, had to tear down a 336 in the field without cell service/internet, wrong time to learn but I did get it back together

On my 1895GS I went with an aluminum follower from Wild West.

Thread stealing question, is there danger of galvanic response using an aluminum follower in a stainless steel mag tube?

No worries if you clean & coat the inside of the mag tube with a corrosion preventer like Rust Cure Formula 3000 or ACF-50. Cambodian Tyre has the Rust Cure and
ACF-50 is normally found at motorcycle shops.
