Marlin 336 JM with a small amount of freckling value

A guy offered me a JM stamped Marlin 336 for $900 and it’s in excellent condition.
The older gentleman said he bought new and put a few rounds through it.
It has one small blemish/freckling on the receiver though.
I’m not really interested in it as a keeper ( I like win 94s)

If I were to list this how best to describe the blemish?

I could tell the exact opposite story. I just purchased a nice 94 after getting tired of looking for an older Marlin 336. It was a little more but came with a bunch of really cool old ammunition along with a bunch modern ammo. It is nice to buy from the original owner and get the history.

As far as describing the blemish, If selling it is "honest wear and hardly noticeable" if buying it is "a grotesque lack of maintenance"

Is the Marlin bulls-eye still intact?
Deal breaker for me if there’s a sling stud in the eye bawl socket.

It's hard to tell for sure looking at the picture, but it looks to me like the rust is still crusted up a bit on the receiver and has not been removed yet, first thing to do is scrub the crusty rust off with some super fine steel wool and oil and see how it looks, after that depending on how it looks, maybe a bit of touch up with some oxpho cold blue and it should look way better and more importantly not be rusting any more.

That gun otherwise is in pretty nice shape.

Considering a $900 purchase price your profit will be minimal if any.

The screw heads are also damaged from using the wrong screwdriver size.

You did not get the deal you seemingly think you did.

If you fukk with it and put swirl marks into the bluing you'll lose money.

Let the next owner clean it up.

Advertise it truthfully backed up with good pictures taken in daylight outside.

It's pure negligence that led to the finish failure.

Describe what it is ,not stupid catch phrase slogans like safe kisses and honest wear.

Plain old Rust is what it is.
Freckling is a stretch , full on acne outbreak is more like it.
