Marlin 36a front sight problem

I am trying to replace the front sight on my Marlin 36A but it will not come off
Any insights or advice?

Assuming it hasn't been staked in place(center-punched), a good soaking in KROIL will probably free it up. This stuff is the very best penetrating oil I have ever seen.

Seems the dovetails are slightly tapered.

Never had a problem like this before, and I don't want to force it
