Thinking of selling my Marlin 39a golden spike it is in like new condition and has a B&L belvar compact 4x 22 scope also mint. This gun is from early 70s i think and dose not have the cross bolt safety and has been shot very little.Looking to replace it with a browning A bolt 22 or 22mag.Any thoughts.

The saddest post I have read in some time...

I agree with sealhunter and would add the word "regret".
If not now, somewhere in the distant future.

Indeed. To the OP, you could probably sell your Marlin in a day or two at $450 and within at week or two at $550. But with Marlin's precipitous decline in quality since the Remington takeover, you may be wise to hold onto that 39a and save up the money for your Browning. 39a's are one of those rifles that always seem to be in demand and the older, the generally better (i.e., pre-safety, pre-rebounding hammer, old-world craftsmanship).

Quite frankly, I think with new Marlin 39a's selling for $629+tax at Cabelas, excellent condition pre-1983 Marlin 39a's should be selling in the $800 range, but that's not currently the case.

What's the Golden Spike? Straight grip?
It's not like he's handing it in for destruction....
If you want to sell it someone will be stoked to buy it at a fair price and Stickhunter has given you some good suggestions!
