Got a chance to buy a marlin 39a made in 1975 ? Is this old enough to be one of the good older 39a's , it looks to be in excellent shape.How would it compare to a new one of today. Does it have the same ejector as my 2002 marlin 1897 texan 22?

Well then it sounds like on of the older gooder ones then...if it's got nice wood and is close to around $450 I'd say go for it eh!
 
I checked wholesale sports site today , they sell for I think $694.99 and SIR sell them for $719.99 plus tax and shipping . so I guess $500.00 is a good deal on this gun?
 
The price has gone up about $150 in the last 6 months or so on Marlin's it seems....can't buy the old ones anymore either!
I just bought a used new style with the safety and given the choice I'd take an old one but this one seems pretty decent and the price was right!
Haven't shot it yet so we will see.....
It sounds like you are looking at the one in the E.E. that Beef is selling....
