Marlin 45-70 questions

So I'v been wanting one for some time and now I'm planning on picking one up shortly so now I have to decide on the model..

Is/was there a stainless straight grip model WITH 6+1 mag ? If so what is the model I'm looking for?

I have seen straight grip with 4+1 and pistol grip 6+1 just want to know if I can have the best of both worlds before I drop my money on one..

There is not.
You can have one or the other. In stainless anyway.

Same here. That's why I parted ways with my 1895GS



And replaced it with a 1895GBL



And acquired a 'shorter' friend to, keep it company .

It's true, the recoil on the straight stock versions is noticeably more punishing if you push hot loads.

I have fired lots of 480gr at ~1650-1700fps out of my 22" pistol gripped 1985 and my friends straight gripped guide gun and I like mine better. I'd trade it for Johnn's though.

I'll have to update the photo I've posted of the GBL. Since then, I've added an XS Lever Rail with ghost ring sights and scope rings.

I just bought the ABL from wholesale for under $800 as it was an online flash sale. I got some nice hornady ammo to feed it.

buy the Gs and get a smith to add an SBL tube or buy and SBL and a GS swap stocks at bottom metal then sell the one you dont want

Definitely go with the pistol grip....much better for handling recoil.
My GBL with the pistol grip has almost put my straight grip Husky into retirement. What a difference!!!!!

I picked up the same GBL at the Drayton valley gun show a few weeks ago.. Sweet little lever gun.
