I have had a few Rugers over the years and now have a 7000. Although I will have to put a lot more rounds through the 7000 before I can say one way or the other which one is better, I like shooting the 7000 more right now, but I prefered the Ruger's mags. Untill you get the hang of loading the Marlin mags, they are a little hard on the finger tips. The Rugers I had were stock, except that one had a folding stock, which was very nice.

Ive got both. well the 795 which is the same gun except for the heavy barrel.
The bore is exactly the same except it has a sporter barrel. Marlin rifling is almost a miracle.
Same rifling and nearly hole on hole at 50 yrds like the 7000 so i guess i can give some input.

They both have two purposes for me.

10/22: Highly moddable toy for the range. Big mags toys upgrades.
We all know how awesome they can be for a price.

Marlin 795/7000: Light weight, awesome bore, CHEAP, crappy trigger.
If any of you have any good mods help me out. Ive tired lightening the hammer load and it didnt help. PM me if you can. much apreciated.

Well onto the gun.
I use it for hunting. Because of the extreamly light weight its possible to have a very high power scope mounted and cary it all day at the ready with no fatigue. I use a bushnell 4-12x40 with A/O mounted. The combo is more or less the weight of a crosman airgun. looks like one too...lol Very reliable and accurate.. I cant stress this enough.

But really the only difference is:
The marlin has last shot bolt hold open
Ruger: no
Marlin wont fire without the magazine
Ruger: it will.

Marlin .5ctc and less benched at 50 yrds
Ruger 1-2inch ctc.

Marlin magazine works very well but hangs out.
Ruger:internal

marlin weighs about as much as the internals only of a 10/22

Marlin has a lot of muzzle flip and lots of movement. (795 anyways)

Marlin is $150-200 new
Ruger barrel: $150-???

Both guns are equally rugged and can take abuse but at the price of the
marlin you dont get upset if you drop it. Makes an excelent no nonsense utility gun. But and this is a big but if i did it again i would buy a model 60 carbine instead of the 795. They are both great but i like tubers.

I didnt leave anything out did i?
They are two different guns.

By the way ive got a beater 795 i might be selling. Its got some wear from uses some scratches on the barrel. I round the receiver in about a 1/8 inch for a scope stop but since filled with jbweld and repainted. Gun sounds brutal but really its fine. Im just honest. comes with 3 mags and mabey a 4-12 banner with one piece mount. Make me an offer.

I would prefer a Trade on this gun though. Im into 870s Want a ventrib wingmaster barrel or synthetic stock outfit with pad.
I might have a 20 inch rifsite with IC choke barrel for sale trade as well.
Im getting a beater 870 with a plain barrel to tackout.
Also looking for a poly choke so i can chop the plain barrel

the 7000 can shoot .5ctc straight from the factory:confused:

i was looking at gettin a 10/22 because its a cheaper semi but then i read so many times about hoe bad they are from the facotry so i was a little discouraged about the 10/22...well alot actually ;)

if the 7000's are really that accurate i may have to buy one.

how accurate are the model 60's?

with my high power scope i could nail shotgun shells while standing at 50yrds repeatedly.
The model 60 has the same micro-grove barrel. They all do even the 39golden.

I have a hard time with the ruger mags. I've had 2 from my 10/22 and one from my 77/17 crap out on me.

I can put maybe 4-5 rounds in them, then on the 6th it seems like the spring goes loose.

10/22 are very cool looking package. Can you accuratley hit gophers at 100, 200, 300 yards?

The springs in the mags can be tightened to cure this problem..

I just bought a 7000 this morning. Its a sweet little package! Having fired many Rugers, this is by far a nicer gun (factory). I've only shot a few rounds so far, but I like! Tomorrow I'll be gopher plugging with a guy who has a brand new Ruger. It will be nice to have a side by side comparison. I'll update tomorrow night.
