The fact was that they all shot exremely well.Just no one wants to carry around that heavy barrel, for plinking and field work.They were probably more expensive to produce as well.Everything these days is going synthetic and plastic to save production costs.I have a Marlin model 70 in the mail ,purchased here on the exchange forum.Same gun, but no heavy barrel.I wanted it, because it still has, the wooden stock.The new 795's are so plasticky and cheap looking.I've heard they are good shooters though.
