marlin 7000?

The fact was that they all shot exremely well.Just no one wants to carry around that heavy barrel, for plinking and field work.They were probably more expensive to produce as well.Everything these days is going synthetic and plastic to save production costs.I have a Marlin model 70 in the mail ,purchased here on the exchange forum.Same gun, but no heavy barrel.I wanted it, because it still has, the wooden stock.The new 795's are so plasticky and cheap looking.I've heard they are good shooters though.
SIR has the 795 listed for $129-I've heard the complaint about the hollow sounding stock-and am wondering if filling them with a dense foam would corrrect that-then maybe a camo paint job,such as guys are doing with the stevens 200
For that price you really can't lose.If you don't like it it will sell on the forum for almost what you paid for it.You could also pick up a wooden stock for it for 60 or 70 dollars.Marlin's are a lot of gun for the money.Heavy trigger[7-9 pounds] but easy to fix down to 3 or 4 pounds.
