Hi,

Ever since I bought my marlin 795 I've had jamming and firing issues. I have tried all sorts of ammo and the same problem occurs. Recently I noticed that the vertical little metal tab where the magazine goes into was bent.

After a little research I believe I have figured out that metal tap tells the trigger that a magazine is loaded and allows the trigger to be pulled. I tried straightening the tab but the very next time I used the rifle the tab bent right away again...

Couple questions...
Has anyone else had this issue?

Will the marlin warranty cover this and should I send it back?

Do I just bend the tab so that the trigger always things that a magazine is loaded?

Cheers

There are videos on YouTube about how to disable the magazine safety which involves bending that tab. Check out one of those and see if it's the same tab.

When I first got my 795 I had problems and it seemed to be tied to over tightening the screws for connecting the action to the stock. Once I backed it off a bit things worked fine.

The only thing I have noticed with mine is that if you put any amount of pressure on the mag. it will not feed the next round....seems to block or jam the bolt.

Yes, It is the same piece of metal that you bend to disable the magazine safety but it's the opposite end of it. I think I will just do the magazine disable trick, I'm just annoyed that a brand new rifle isn't working correcting.

I will also try backing the screws off a little, thanks

I have had this issue as well with my 795, after many times shooting it with minimal problems. I cleaned and polished the whole chamber, and loosened the screws connecting the action to the stock. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to shoot it since.

Just got back from a weekend away and I had plenty of time to tinker with the marlin, unfortunately nothing worked! After every shot the round would eject and load the next round in but I couldn't pull the trigger enough to fire it. Each time I would have to pull back the charging handle and an unfired round would eject and load another round and this time I could pull the trigger.

I did do the magazine disconnect as I thought the rifle was having issues with the magazine but now feel like its a trigger issue.

Any suggestions?

If you havent done it already i would try posting on rimfire central. They have a marlin sub forum with lots of good info and helpful people.
