Marlin 795 scope.

Currently looking to purchase a scope for my 795, I'm not looking for something too expensive but at the same time not too terrible.

I don't know much about mountings and what not, but I would like some solid rings, not sure about the high-profiles ones. I'm also looking for a bi-pod and honestly I don't know anything about them.

When I bought my 795 it purchased this "Tasco Mag 3-9x32mm .22 Riflescope w/ Bore Snake". Don't use the snake but the scope was on sale.
I like it and it doesn't need much re-sighting but had to use Loctite due to the action of the rifle forcing the scope to loosen the screws.

I like it and fitted the budget at time of purchase. I don't have a problem recommending it as a starter scope.
 
I purchased a Simmons 22 Mag fixed 4 power scope for around $40 new for my 795. There is also a 3x9 similarly priced and comes with the mount. I replaced my tech sights with it and have shot around 1000 rounds with no issues. I've not taken it outdoors in the cold or rain, so can't comment on its water/fog proofness. I'm pretty happy with it.
 
I put a Bushnell rimfire 4x32mm on my 795. The devastating recoil of .22LongRifle hasn't broken it yet and every shot I missed with it I could just as well have missed with a more expensive scope.

Bushnell banner is the most expensive scope I have on a rimfire. Most have the cheapest I mean cheapest scopes available. The shipping was actually more than the scope. They're not Leupold but quite clear and held up on my 30/06 semi for 100 rounds. Fitco fixed 4 and 6 power. The 6 power is on my 22 mag and I can't find a reason to replace it. The only reason I'm currently upgrading one of my Fitco scopes is I want more magnification for my mach2. Read reviews and look thru as many scopes as you can. Only then can you make a decision as to what looks good and clear to your eyes. Many retailers will allow you to go to the door and look at far away objects as well. Cabelas in dundee actually took 8 scopes outside for my buddy to look thru. For what he paid there should have been a red carpet though. Once you start to see a difference then choose your price range. For me clarity and sharpness come in a few price ranges. $89 and less bottom of the barrel. $90-125 decent usable. Usually found on package guns. $125-299 clearer sharper better color. $300-400 great working reliable clear optics. Above $400 my eyes can justify any more clarity or sharpness. At this point it's about features. A high end night force or ziess will be noticeably sharper then a cheap Chinese knockoff or Simmons but is it worth 20-25 times the price? Let your eyes decide
