Marlin 795

Can anybody give me some idea of Marlin 795. Maybe I am going to buy one if it is good. Thanks.

Take a few minutes and look through this forum. Lots of discussions on marlin 795 vs. Ruger 10/22. You'll find everyone's opinions, and biases well represented. I could save you all that reading and just tell you the truth~the 795 is a good gun, period. At the price it sells for, that "good" is actually a "great".

What he said... They are accurate and reliable, fun to shoot. Only downsides are lack of hi-cap mags, but the factory 10 round mags work in the 795 and run flawlessly. Also, it is quite utilitarian, not much to write home about in terms of esthetics, but for what you pay for it, who cares? It's the perfect beater gun!

What they said. The 10/22 is much more customizable and has way more aftermarket parts to choose from, but (IMHO anyway) the 795 is a better gun out of the box.

The biggest drawback to the 795 is the factory trigger. It's quite heavy. Fortunately, there is now a spring kit available that vastly improves it. Search MCARBO for more info on it.

The 795 seems to be picking up in terms of popularity so I'm hoping that means a better selection of aftermarket parts for it in the future.

My suggestion is to buy one. It's very unlikely that you'll regret it.

shooters ridge makes 25 round mags for them, but they are impossible to find in canada and every single last review I've ever seen say they are garbage. Not 1 goot review of them. I still want one though lol.

As for factory mags, my local WSS supplied me with mine.
