Well, I am a proud owner of a nice new .17HMR
Just bought it today at Russells, along with a Simmons 3-9x 22MAG scope. Now for some range work to see what she can do!

One thing is certain, the 444 kicks more , The 17 is some accurate, and for small vermin, it gets pretty graphic Congrats, another 17 owner, I are one

Have you settled on a particular brand of ammo yet? I got three different types to try out to see what mine will like. Hornady 17gr V-Max, CCI 17gr V-Max and CCI 17gr TNT.

I havn't shot that many rounds through it, but what I have found is that Hornaday and Federal will give me really tight 4 shot groups,but there is usually a 5th shot flyer that messes the group off. I might have 4 shots with in half an inch, and the 5th shot 1 1/4 inches off the others. With the CCI TNT, I will get allright groupings, nothing special, but not as many flyers either. But I like the Hornady and Federal V- max most _

Congrats! I own the savage 17 hmr and love it and know a guy with the marlin. Both shoot amazing with cci 17gr TNT. If 5 shots aren't touching at 100 yds, take it back! Once used to the gun and how wind effects it, it'll be the most accurate rimfire you've shot!!!

I love my hmr, you may find a bigger scope (12x or 18x) in order to really get the most out of it. But what you got will work just fine. The 17 is one of the funnest gopher guns going.

Give the gun some time to really shape up. I wasn't till about 250-300 rounds down my 917V till the gun really started to perform. Now its gopher poison!!!!
