I just happen to own a Marlin Model 922 in 22 magnum. I could not find it listed on their current website. Is this a discontinued model? Is it generally thought of as a decent quality firearm? I kind of like mine. It has been effective in disposing of 4 skunks this spring.

Marlin 922M

Marlin 922M was discontinued 5-6 years ago. I have one and think it's great.
If you don't have spare mags you might want to get some before they get rare.
I picked some up from SIR when they where clearing them out several years ago.

big g is selling me one spare mag for this Marlin. Very kind of him and lucky for me.

I have an inexpensive 4 power scope I think I will try on the Marlin now. I believe the receiver is milled aluminum on this rifle. Not sure if it is forged like an AR 15. Stock is walnut. The safety is handy and intuitive. This puppy wasn't cheap when I bought it. I seem to remember $400.00?

Had the loan of one of those a few years back. Didn't shoot worth a damn with almost any ammo, however, when I fed it Winchester Supreme hollow points what a beaut. Bloody thing would shoot 3/4 - 1" groups at 100yds all day long. Just wish I could have convinced my buddy to part with it. My loss.

922M has a very strong action

What I like most about the 922M rifle is that the action is based not on the smaller Model 60 .22LR semi-auto action, but rather on that of the much-beefier Marlin Camp Carbine (which handles the manly .45ACP with ease). This is not true of the Ruger 10/22 Mag, which does use a moderately-stronger version of their 10/22 LR action. The same is true of the Remington 597.In other words, the Marlin 922M action is immensely strong for a .22 cartridge, and this rifle will outlive you, your kids, and their grandkids.
Too bad Marlin discontinued it in 2001.

I had a 922M that I sold a couple of years ago. It was purchased new. I tried every brand of ammo and bullet type I could get my hands on. I could not get that rifle to shoot worth a damn. I could not find a reason for the poor accuracy and I ended up selling it at a loss. Too bad because I really liked the looks and handling of that rifle.

I have only been using iron sites so far, shorter range stuff. When I get the scope on I will check it out for grouping.

I'd probably be satisfied with 2 MOA. Don't know if I will get it? :sniper:
