Ok, so I just got back from the range and was shooting my Marlin 925. The only work done to it was bedding the action and bringing the trigger down to a nice 2.5 lbs. It's wearing a Zeiss Conquest 3-9 MilDot (maybe a little overkill for a $280 rifle, but it wasn't being used so I figured why not). Previous to this, I had tried a variety of other types of ammo and couldn't get under 1" at 50 yards. After getting the scope zeroed for this ammo, I took it out to 100 yards, and was reliably picking off empty 12G cases (my record for the day was 4 in a row). IMO, none too shabby for a lightly modified $280 rifle.
