Hey Guys,
Question for all you gurus out there. Am considering a new purchase, and these two have caught my eye, and am loking for a little feedback to help make up my mind.
Anyone with any input on the Marlin 925R, or the Savage MkII G/F
? What are they like for accuracy, reliability, balance and overall impression ect. Any other recommendations in that $250 or under price range for a bolt22? Thanks much guys in advance for the input!

They are both dependable accurate guns for the money.I think the savage accu trigger is easier to shoot with than the 900 series trigger group of the Marlin.Marlins are great guns though and I have never handled one that didn't shoot well.I think a Savage mk 11 and a Marlin semi-auto 795 would be a nice combination if you desire two guns.

Own a Savage MkII "G" and I love it! Very accurate rimfire! I at first wanted an "F" but all that was available was the "G" which was fine since I don't mind the iron sights or the wood stock.

Two thumbs up for the Savage!

A few points that may or may not matter to you:

- The Savage Accutrigger can be adjusted down to 2.5 lbs, much lighter than any other inexpensive .22 that I have tried.
- Most of the MK II models come with bases installed. The Marlin is drilled and tapped, but you'll have to supply the bases.
- The Savage takes either a 5 or 10 shot magazine. The Marlin is 7 (not sure if other sizes are available.) Personally I much prefer the 5 shot mag for offhand shooting since it doesn't protrude much below the forearm.

Only the models with target barrels have bases, the "G" model does not, just tapered and iron sights! :D

My Mark II G shoots pretty well, but I heard Marlin 925 is a great gun too. If I were you, I will choose Mark II for its accu trigger.

That is what I thought too. My new 795 just arrived the local post office, and I will pick it up tomorrow. We are speaking of rimfire... One is never enough.

The 925 is probably a little underrated. The trigger is definitely pretty stiff, but I don't think it bothers me. It feels positive squeezing it, it kind of forces you to practice good trigger squeeze since it's stiff.

The iron sights are okay.. you have to adjust them to zero like all rimfires, but it is kind of annoying.

The action is stiff out of the box, but just playing with the bolt smooths things up. My bolt slides down by itself if I point the gun up.

It's easy to disassemble, and in my opinion, the wood stock looks better than Savage's wood. There's more grain to the wood.

Not of the wind blows :) And depends on the range that you're zeroed at :) And elevation hehe.
