My dad has a marlin 1894 in 44 mag, he loves the rifle but hates having to cycle the shells out and is looking to sell it. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen, heard of or know if it is possible to modify the magazine tube to take a henry style internal tube to facilitate unloading. I do not think a loading slot in the tube would be necessary as the factory load gate would still be used. Opinions?

No, but what is the year of the rifle?

If it has no cross-bolt safety, then it predates the year of introduction in 1983.

That makes it a JM Marlin from the years when Marlins were really well made.
(Not saying that JM Marlins of the 80s and 90s and some into this century were not also well-made.)

Anyway, if it is an older one, and in nice shape, it would be very desirable.
Worth selling high or keeping for it's value.

In any case, why not just buy a Henry Big Boy Steel with a 20" barrel?
Steel receiver, great walnut, high quality, and of course the front-loading tube that you want.
Internally, it's very similar to a Marlin, with the same lifter and locking block design.
The only thing that I personally dislike is the recoil pad.

His thought is to sell it, its a remlin so not collectable. He has modified the forarm, smoothed the razor edge off the lever and cycled it a thousand or so times so would not likely get his asking of new-100. My concern is after he gets the henry he is going to dislike loading through the tube. So when you want something that is not made, maybe you could make something you want!

There was a you-tube video on how to unload thru the loading gate.
Just don't remember if it was the Winchesters or Marlins.
I know it works.
Takes some practice as it can bite the finger tips.
