Hi,
Courtesy of Calata (CGN member - kind enough to sell the rifle), and Jason from GunCo (kind enough to drill and tap for the front sight), here's my new rifle:

I'll have it at the range tomorrow and hopefully will post a range report before the weekend is over.

Since it's a Marlin, and since the rifle was well taken care of (nice rifling in the bore, muzzle crown is perfect, and the internals are just as nice as the stock), I have high expectations. I just hope my eyes don't fail me. ;)

I'm not a huge fan of the large front sight but if you like it, that's what matters. Back in the day they were one of the cooler looking 22's.
 
I love mine . Sometimes I leave my gopher gun in the truck and grab it to walk the fields and plonk some vermin as it feels super short and light compared to that . Open sites it’s a very true little rimfire .
Enjoy it , I just love the vintage Marlins .

Yep, it has the gold trigger. I almost think it's too fancy for it in some way - do you know what I mean?

I had one of these a real long time ago and always regretted selling it. You're right - it's a great trunk gun and carrying rifle - it's just so damn handy. So I'm pretty excited.

I had it out the range today and holy smokes! She shoots very well - it's more accurate than I am, that's for sure! There was one stovepipe in about 100 rounds, and I have a feeling that was due to the ammo (or possibly the magazine). Shooting CCI Blazers, and even in my 795, there is also a rare stovepipe.

It worked great with the factory stock 7 round mags, as well as with the new nickel plated ones. I'll note that the stovepipe happened when using one of the old mags.

Anyway, I'm very happy with it and plan on learning to shoot as accurately as the rifle and ammo will let me. :)

Well have fun with it . I really like my vintage 22s , always give them a run in the summer , always make me smile .

It's true - nothing like a well balanced and accurate wood and steel rifle.

The rifle does not like American Eagle ammo. It was the same with the 795 - with Federal and American Eagle I was getting 3 or 4 stovepipes per box. Whereas CCI Blazers cycle and shoot almost perfectly.

I also swapped out the canvas sling - the damn thing would not stay put when used as a hasty sling. Now I have on a 1" leather carry strap that looks nicer and gives a solid and no-slip shooting support. I know, that loop sling can do better than a simple hasty sling, but the J-hook does not even fit the sling swivel, so I decided against using it.
