Hi,
I recently bought a 989 M2 from Calalta, from CGN. He's a great guy to deal with and really went above and beyond. If you ever do business with him, have full confidence. The rifle is in better shape than I could have hoped for...

The rifle came today - and it's a really nice piece. Canada Post put it on the very fastest pony they had, so it only took 4 weeks to arrive. Thankfully, Calalta kept that pony moving by opening up a trouble ticket with CP.

It was manufactured in 1975. The bore looks great, muzzle crown is perfect, and it cycles very smoothly using dummy rounds. The wood has a couple of dings and scratches, but overall is in great shape. The finish is otherwise just about perfect.

The receiver has a couple of scratches as well but otherwise is in great shape. I've yet to disassemble the action but based on how well it seems to cycle, I think the internals will be as nice as the exterior.

A nice surprise is that the mags are interchangeable with my 795. I plan on seeing if the Numrich 15 round mags work well in both rifles.

The only changes I'm making to it are adding a USGI loop sling, removing the factory sights, and then installing USGI styled tech sights. I use them on my 795 and I absolutely love them.

"Removing the sights?!" you may ask. Yes, so I will be selling the rear sight assembly and the front sight as a throw-in. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will post an ad here.

Cheers,
Neil

Don’t sell that rear sight . They can be hard to find . I just took mine out a week ago ...whacked a couple of gophers . Thing is a great little gun and I usually take it out once or twice a summer . I’d use it more but my eyes aren’t up to it and I can’t bring myself to put any of my scopes on it , just looks terrible with a modern scope .
I bought mine years ago and stripped the wood down and have it just oiled ....has a beautiful striped wood with hints of gold ...very nice .
I’d love to find it’s littermate with the tube magazine , really want one to complete the pair just never seen one for sale .
