I believe I've had a few with that feature. I believe I might have one still - I don't know. I never use it. Don't touch it and you'll forget all about it.

I have plenty of levers with and without a button safety,it doesn't bother me at all ,I do like it for an added safety when de-cocking /unloading,I'm always carefull but you can never be too carefull .my model 94 has a nice grippy hammer and I've never had an issue,but I've seen well worn rifles that carefull gun owners have had go off while letting the hammer down and had a slip.
It's a good thing having a button safety ,maybe not on a rifle used in grizzly country where your rifle is your lifeline and you forget to swith off the button in the heat of the moment ,and a charging grizz just hears your hammer drop and nothing else .lol

IT HIT ABOUT 3 INCHES FROM MY RIGHT FOOT.
I WAS SCARED, OF IT TILL, I SOLD IT.
I owned 2 marlins with the safety, I think that it is a good thing.
I now have a Marlin without the safety, I wish it had one.
I'm exta careful with it now.

Around guys with BLR's I don't pay too much attention. Anything else and I am very cognizant of the issues of loading and unloading lever action firearms so I will keep a watchful eye on things.
On my 336, I use the button all the time. Does not bother me at all.

If you don't trust your dexterity to decock a lever action safely it might be helpul to slip a piece of thick fabic in there (possibly the bottom edge of your jacket), so if the hammer slipped there is much less chance of a strike occurring.

I bobbed the little wing off the safety then smoothed 'er out & re-blued it. When I reinstalled the button (In the fire position) I made sure to add a wee dab of Loctite 262 to ensure it says that way. I used a wee dab of Loctite 545 to lock the BS safety on the back of the hammer in the fire position to boot.
