My Dad is interested in one of these carbines, and I would like to know 2 things:

1. How common are they?

2. How much do they go for up here?

I know they are mostly restricted, but my Dad would rather have one than any of the other offerings on the market.

Thanks.

Note: I will emphasize that I am looking for the old camp carbine in .45 ACP, anything else does not count.

Ive never seen one up, not that I specially look for the marlin model, the Ruger .44 camp model pops up maybe once every other month and they get gobbled up rather quickly, I normally see them up in the 700 ish range. I would say if your interested in a short carbine type rifle in a bigger pistol caliber, your father should consider the marlin, ross, puma, browning, chap levers in 357, 44, 45 with the 16'' barrels. Great little hiker's friend. Hope that helps, cheers!

As you mentioned, since they are restricted they are a bit scarce. They do pop up, and the price depends a lot on condition. They tend to list for $800+.

Some parts, including a buffer that needs replacing regularly are getting harder to find. The trigger mechanism is known for being a PITA to work on, yet many have tried...
