Marlin - extended magazines?

I am looking at the Marlin 1895 - 22" barrel in 45/70 as my next acquisition. Where can one get an extended magazine put on one of these to increase capacity beyond 4 rounds?

I assume some gunsmithing would be required?

We do not make them, install them, or, based on years of experience, recommend them.

It looks like If you want a 5-10 shot mag you will have to go with another caliber and model ex. Model 1894 in 44 rem. mag holds 10.

Unless you have been hired to cull a heard of bison there isnt much point of having a bigger tube mag in you 1895 my opinion is that it would just weigh down the rifle for nothing.

You might want to take alook at the Marlin 45/70 Cowboy gun, it has 26" barrel and the Mag. extends to the end of the barrel, holds 9 rounds, if this isn't enough, i'd like to know what your huntin'

I've taken the Guide Gun concept to the exteme. It started with a Stainless Guide Gun and then I added:

21" stainless barrel
Full Mag Tube
WWG exjector and Trigger
WWG stock
DRC Medium Loop Lever
DRC Steel Follower
XS Winged Ghost Rings
XS Solid Front sight
and, of course, $.05 e-ring safety block!

To extend the mag you can either use a cowboy mag tube and cut it short or swage 2 tubes together. Because my gun is stainless I had to swage the tubes together. The problem lies with the bracket to attach the barrel and tube together. You have to cut a new dovetail in at the end of the barrel and, if you wish, fill the dovetail that was used for the shorter tube.

I personally like a lever gun to have a full length tube - that's why I did it - loaded with 8 45-70 rounds, the gun gains about a pound and a bit!! :D

I know there was an article I read last year on how to do it. I looked into the cost of the magazine and that is as far as I got.

I will try and find the article for you.....

It sounds good but with an 18 1/2'' barrel you would only get an extra one round in there, perhaps two. If it is an aesthetic thing then I agree that a magzine tube flush with the barrel would look much better.
Beaver Skin, you must have had the 22" barrel to begin with and Crazy Davey you too.

This guy did a nice job, but it's not a task for a newbie and requires some machining.
