Marlin Firearms closing, 265 to be laid off

Well, that makes what five firearms companies purchased by Cerberus.... Interesting.

"Cerberus Capital Management, a large holding company, has acquired yet another gun maker, this time AR-platform builder DPMS Panther Arms. In the past year, Cerberus has purchased three gun manufacturers: Bushmaster Firearms, Remington Arms, and Cobb Manufacturing. It looks like Cerberus intends to be a major player in the semi-auto AR-platform market, Colt and FN Mfg. LLC notwithstanding. Strategically, the DPMS acquisition places Cerberus in an even stronger position to pursue military rifle contracts–the prize we believed Cerberus was chasing all along."

Apparently there was also a fire at the plant. Guess my buddies going to be waiting a long time for his sbl. Sad to hear.

Not really !

If you've been paying attention to US economic issues of late you'll realize that "Small Business" south of the boarder has just been given a financial kick in the nuts. This is at a time when they are least able to withstand it. Yes, I'm referring to the new US multi trillion dollar communist health plan.

As every firearms manufacturer is a "Small Business" you can now expect more downsizing and closures. This is bad news kiddies, Caterpillar, Viacom, and Marlin won't be the only casualties.

"Capitalism"?? Nope,,"Socialism"!!
 
LEt's help those companies and keep buying their guns, while we still have our jobs. I am doing my part tomorrow. I will return home with a nice bright and shiny Marlin, another one that I don't need (but it makes me happy to look at them, nicely stacked in my gun safe).

my wife also has an opinion on this :nest: (a bit contrary to mine).
 
You can blame it on the state taxes but that is false.

The employees likely have a bit of a pension plan and some health care benefits. Now we all know what happens to things like that. :kickInTheNuts:
