Hey guys,

I just bought a stainless guide gun in 45/70 and I noticed something. I do not have the usual ''Marlin bullseye'' under the stock. According to Marlin, every gun that goes out their factory has it.

Was bought new at a dealer 3 days ago. Anyone has an idea about what happen?

Thanks.

Thanks for your replies guys. My stock is a walnut stock that is standard on every guide gun (ss or blue).

According to the serial number, it's been manufactured in 2008.

I know this thread is a few months old but i just did a search on this site because i just bought a 39A with the same missing bullseye. From what I can gather they stopped putting them in after the remington takeover but after many complaints from the marlin fans they were once again added. It's also believed that these rifles could become collectors items some time down the road. As for mine I'm using it.

I'm not sure what type of wood the 94 has but marlin only puts the bullseye on the walnut stocks. My 336 purchased one year ago does have the bullseye.

My 39A purchased used in the 1970s, has the bullseye, as does the 1895 bought little over a year ago.

Here's a pic of one of each.IMG]http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt118/wajo_photo/DSC01845.jpg[/IMG]

Should work this time.

OK ff33, you beat me to it, but here are mine, anyway.
On left is the 1895 45-70 and on the right the old 39A Mountie.
Note the Limbsaver on the 45-70.
