I wish Marlin would break the mould and come out with a 50-110.
Maybe Davey will let me try his this year.:p
 
what kind of bullett is a 350 FN?

have put 350FN's into 5 bears and 2 moose, best damn bullet there is for an "all rounder" for the .450 - 45-70

Is the Marlin recoil pad adequate or are there more effective ones out there?...

Adequate? For what? Looks like a recoil pad, smells like a recoil pad, but performs like a hockey puck. If you're using elevated loads a Decelerator/Limbsaver/Kick-Eez will make you happier. I have a Pachmayr on mine (actually a 22" Model 1895) but I've heard that the Limbsaver provides the best recoil reduction.

Your just as pathetic as me. I take my Nosler #5 everywhere with me as well. I even read it in bed and on the can!:D As for the pistol grip, the guide gun comes in a straight grip. The pistol grip is a standard 1895. The straight grip is supposed to be a bit quicker to bring into action. I like them, but i like the look of the standard rifle better. there may be one of these in my near future. But i'll say right now, the only mod she'll get is a low power variable of some flavour with QD rings.

Mine is clearly stamped 1895G, and has the short ported barrel and pistol grip :confused:

And as for the manual, I often read the Lee, Speer, Nosler and Barnes manuals in all the above locations LOL

Nope, bought it from another CGN, and don't know if he was the first owner.

I notice the one in huntinstuff's post has the PG and no checkering, but I can't see the end of the barrel..

.............Randy's is a .444 Marlin and has a 22" barrel. Its not a guidegun.

................With that being said, the triple 4 is no slouch and would do the same job i would think.:D

Overall I'm pleased with my GS but I would prefer the curved lever and pistol grip butt stock.
Mounted a Leupold 1x4 Vari X II using Weaver pivot mounts so the iron sights are still accessable if required. Same basic set-up on my .444 except I'm using a Bushnell 1.5x4.5.
