Does anyone have first-hand experience with these? I recently came into a pile of this ammunition and would like to shoot some of it. Is the model 62 a reliable rifle? Are ther any in Canada?

thanks!

Yes, a Buddy has one in 30 carbine- it's a great gun. Very quick to shoot with the miniature lever throw and accurate. They can be hard to find as I don't believe they have been produced in ages.

Some are still out there but people tend to treasure them, not many are for sale. Marlins lever actions were build to very high standards, I am left handed and fan of levers so I own 63' build Marlin 336c with Ballard rifling in 35Rem and Win mod 88 in 358Win. Recently fellow CGN asked me to build him custom 35 Whelen on FN action and in exchange he offered me nice Marlin mod 62 in 30 carbine and with changeable barrel in 22 Johnson, dies, brass, etc.... I will have lots of fun next spring....

Well thanks for the info! I guess I'll have to bide my time or wait until a non-restricted m1 carbine shows up...I only have a couple thousand rounds anyway.....:D

One sold around home this summer, thinking $450 with a cheap scope. Think they were only made for 4 years in the 60's. Don't have the "bible" with all the data in hand.

I really would like to see if I can find a non-restricted "something" that I can shoot the ammo with first. I'll see what the EE can do! Thanks for the replies!

I hope that is was you who bought it, $450 with any scope would be a nice score, over the many, many years of gun shows that I been to I only saw two of them for sale for way over the $ I was willing to pay for them.

Isn't the .30 carbine rimless? Would that effect the operation of the lever at all?

I recently shot a .444 Marlin. It kicked my ass

I remember in March this year when I went shooting for the very first time ever in my life. First gun was a .22 then the second one I fired was a .45-70. Man I was not expecting that and it that kicked the crap out of me

No , didn't get it. Went to $300 ish, then quit bidding. Too many "Sunday afternoon" guns already.

Have a Marlin in 357, thats why I didn't press it further. A good gun to start a kid on. No recoil and how many 12 yr olds can make a 200yd shot?

Here is a 62 Levermatic in 30 Carbine.
