Marlin Lever actions

how would a marlin take the pressure generated by a 358. i believe they operate at 60000 while the marlin is designed for pressures around 44000. the 358 also has no rim, extraction would be difficult.

The rechamber of a Marlin in 35 remington that Bishopus was referring to is actually the .356 Winchester. Uses the same dies as the .358 but the cartridge is designed to shoot flat bullets with less pressure.

Isn't it ~ 50,000 just like the .308 :confused:
 
Salty, as far as I know, they generate the same pressure, and the MV is within 50 fps difference between the 356, and 358 (the 358 winning slightly)... I bet the difference is in the test barrel length ;).
A 356 is an awesome Brush cal, I love mine. A buddy of mine killed a big doe with it this year using a 250 gr FP. It went in and out, and made a mess between. Needless to say, the deer went about 75 yards...
 
Ya your sure as hell right there Darryl identical cases pretty much so they can be loaded pretty much dead even the .358 using pointy bullets of course though. IIRC though the factory .356 stuff wasn't loaded to a very high pressure.
