Marlin lever guns???

Well, inspect the gun before buying it? I bought a used Marlin 336 at 325$ and it was the best looking one amongst other more expensive levergun. I have a preference for Marlin because of the side ejector, easier to take apart, round bolt, the look the action is smooth and it feels solid.

Own one of the newer Ilion, NY made Remlin 1895GS (stainless Guide Guns) manufactured just after the Remington takeover.
She was ruff out of the box but after I stripped it down and honed and polished off all the machining burrs and gave it a good oiling it was slick as eels snot.
Split the butt stock from shooting pretty hefty loads but that's fixed now and it's feeding, cycling and shooting smooth as a baby's azz.

I got a Marlin 30-30 it was manufactured in 1948-1951 ish and it shoots 2 moa, first time it was ever disassembled to be cleaned was last year.
Has under 200 shots though it, has been though every kind of weather and harsh treatment yet still operates flawlessly.
Take one screw out of the lever, remove bolt (little retainer bolt clip comes out) lever pulls out and its the next easiest to lean next to a bolt action.

So if newer models are anywhere near as good then I don't believe you could go wrong. It's a fun light weight bush gun for long days of hunting.

I agree.... I have an REP stamped 1895 GBL. It has never failed to feed, and was dead on right out of the box. Only thing I've ever done to it is clean it, and shoot it..... A lot! My favorite rifle, hands down. Now I'm on the lookout for the 1895 Cowboy.... And a GS.

I see they're back to making them in 35 Remington. Very nice. Might have to pick up and new one and try it out.
