Well, I took the Marlin 60 SS over and we ran it through it's paces when I went bear hunting with my brother and he really loved it.

It shoots well and is nice and light, disassembles easily for cleaning and hold 15 rds. I'd highly recommend it to anyone thinking of picking one of these up.

If this is your friend's gun and is working good, I will pay for the purchased price that he paid for and you save the tax because of only ten round fired.

Actually this is a gun that I'm thinking of buying for my brother - I have no experience with these guns and couldn't find any 'new' pricing in Canada for the SS models so I'm curious - I don't know what the original buyer paid which is why I'm asking.

Are you intentionally being stupid for comic effect or do you suffer from some sort of handicap that excuses the above type of statement or are you just a garden-variety troll?

A) I didn't ask your opinion on what I should buy....regardless, not a big fan of the 10/22, but thanks for the sugeestion.

B) presumably you feel that talking about 'buying unregistered' is now OK due to the amnesty on prosecution for unregistered non-restricts; all transfers must still be processed through Miramachi, to suggest I or anyone else could or should do otherwise is a clear violation of CGN Rule #1:

C) Presumably you suggest buying an 'unregistered' gun so that if the government decides to seize them all they won't have a record of that one so I can keep it - if I were to do that I'd definitely choose (as would I'm sure almost everyone who thought about it) something other then a 10/22 for multiple reasons.

D) Somebody paying $1,800.00 for an unregistered 10/22 in unknown condition is absolutely ludicrous. As stated above it would be an illegal sale and if a person was willing to do that they could, I'm sure, pick up all sorts of AK's and other either prohibited or unregistered guns in probably quite nice shape for significantly less money.

To sum up...

You don't understand basic questions, you suggest illegal activity, you obviously don't understand the registry or what it means and you are either a liar or hallucinating.

It's almost a shame to point you out to the mods as I'm thinking that you'll be pretty entertaining in your own right.
 
$279.00 plus 7% and shipping at Wholesale for the non ducked version. Somebody was trying to sell one recently on the EE with the duck badge and wanted quite a bit more because it was a "special" rifle.
Since you should be getting the Bro rate I'd say $250.00
 
Awesome news, especially since I've already bought it. The guy is selling it on consignment at my favourite store and wanted $260. While looking at it the front screw that holds the trigger had been lost during disassembly (possibly by the store, unsure) and so I offered him $250.

The gunsmith found a replacement screw and put it in while I was there.

I'm picking it up tomorrow.

I wanted to be sure I wasn't getting screwed - the store is very good and I take them at there word as to what is/isn't a good dal but usually I have some knowledge before I buy.

Glad to know I paid exactly the right amount, thanks guys!!

Speaking of shooting this thing, I've been made aware of a bit of a debate between those who say copperwashed ammo significantly decreases fouling and lead build-up and those who say it's all hogwash and that the thin amount of copper does diddly-squat...

Opinions?
 
WellI've found that it's not the copper wash but the additives like wax that helps with bore fouling.

Take american eagle hollowpoints vs. mini mags.

They are both copper washed but I find that the american eagles still foul as much as regular lead. I used to find after 300-400 rounds my accuracy went down.

I happen to shoot mini mags a lot now and find that the bore almost never gets fouled. Even after more than 1000 rounds I find that a solvent soaked patch and a clean patch is all it takes.

This is just what I have observed.
