Can anyone direct me to a good "exploded" view, or assembly instructions for a Marlin model 27 or 27s? It was disassembled (not by me) for a professional re-blue a couple years ago. Then sat in a lock-up, and was neglected other than a few exterior wipe downs. Now I've reloaded a bunch of rounds and want to give it a field day or two. Just a guess, but I think the guy who did the re-blue pulled an "oops" on the re-assembly. The long coil spring in the mag stretches across the open slot where the rounds are supposed to be dropped in when loading. It looks like all the parts are there, but...she don't work, and she isn't going to work until I can see what's wrong and fix it. The action seemed very stiff when it came back from the re-blue, so whether that's related or not, I don't know.

Yup. Got the same book, and of course the same result. Guess I could have mentioned that at the outset. Certainly appreciate your effort and good intentions!

Sounds like the outer magazine tube is not pulling the follower with it. There is a small pin on the follower that fits through a hole in lower end of the magazine tube. Most likely the tube is damaged and will need to be welded. The magazines are somewhat unconventional in that the outer tube is the part that moves rather than the inner as you would see on a typical .22 for instance. If I recall correctly they get damaged from pulling the tube out too far when loading.
