Hi folks,

I recently acquired a Marlin Model 60, Ducks Unlimited edition at auction. The rifle is new (unfired). I didn't have time to research the rifle before (successfully) bidding, so I'm hoping someone could shed some light on this rifle for me (value, interesting tips, etc). I understand the Model 60 is a very well thought of, reliable rifle.

Thank you very much in advance.

There are a lot of different ducks unlimited model 60's. Is it stainless, blued, walnut, laminate, synthetic? Does it say what model? If it is just the 60 then it's the basic model 60 with hardwood stock, if it says 60w then it's real walnut. Could be any of the 60 variations, but ducks unlimited versions usually have a medallion in the stock and ducks unlimited written on the barrel. Also they often cost more than their "non DU" counterpart by about $150 for some reason I could never figure out. Nice guns though, regardless which one it is.

Thanks, mikey.

It would seem that it is a regular hardwood, blued rifle. And yes, it does have the medallion on the righthand side of the buttstock. Can't wait to take it out this weekend.

Thanks again,

I have read a lot about the Marlin 60 on line and it seems that you can't go wrong with this piece. It appears to excell in every respect. I am looking for a model 60 SN (synthetic stock) but have not been able to find one.CTC in Belleville stocks them as does Bass Pro but they are always on back order. I have never seen one posted with a
Walnut stock, that would be a p[retty piece. They are usually Hardwood ( Ash or Birch)
stained but not even close to the real thing. Enjoy your gun.

A bird in the hand makes blowing the nose difficult.

I have a DU in Model 60SS with Pepper Laminate stock, and of course the medallion in the stock. It's a fun little shooter. With the tube feed, I can load up 15 L.R. rounds and have at her. I put a Mueller Quick Shot on top and it's very accurate, a keeper for me.

You're going to like the DU, they're shooters.
