I just bought a beautiful S.S model 60.

I put a scope on it and tightened it till I bent the dime I used, and the scope still slides back on the dovetail when fired.

Anything I can do to resolve this? Aluminum scope rings perhaps? Any tips would be great. Thanks!

a dime? I'd start by using an actual screwdriver...

what rings are you using? I use leupold 3/8 rimfire rings with no issues on my marlin 60's

on some cheap rings the plate opposite the screw you tightened with a dime is reversable. It might be on upside down. Get better rings. And didn't your daddy ever tell you to use the right tool for the job?

Get this mount or something similiar which is designed to fit a dovetail, have one on my model 60. Tightens up nice and snug and doesn't ruin the top of the aluminium receiver on the model 60. Then get a proper set of rings, not some cheap rings that you don't know where they came from. If they came with the Tasco they're likely $20 rings so they'll ruin your scope. Get a pair of Burris, Leupold, whatever, get some quality rings.

The Model 60 is a great shooter so if you put a decent scope on it you'll be really happen with the package and the outcome.

I understand a dime isn't the correct tool. It's all I had when I was out in the field at the time.
I will look at the rings next time I get a chance.

Thank you for your input. That looks like a great idea! I'll do some surfing online. I too, was also concerned about ruining the aluminum receiver by tightening it too much.

I had the same issue with my Marlin Model 795. Tasco 3x9. Following recommendations from peeps having the same issues,

I got rid of the included mounts and bought this instead:

http://www.amazon.ca/UTG-Airgun-Med...8&qid=1438563143&sr=8-3&keywords=utg+integral

Read the customers reviews of the mount, you'll see the issues with scope creep on the marlins is experienced by many.

Then I used blue threadlocker on each screws on there.

Oh I forgot to mention....I was using a quarter myself lol...didnt bent it...

This.

Delavan beat me to it, but the 3 bolt 1 piece mounts are really secure, at least on the 795 (so should be good on the Model 60 too). Also, the stop-pin seems to help with creep too.

Permatex also makes a "medium" (blue) threadlocker, in case your local store doesn't have Loctite. My CanTire has the Permatex product, and it seems to work about the same. The medium strength threadlocker from Harborfreight also works fine, for those that live near the US border and US stores.

I just got back from the range, burned a box of Win 222 and my scope mount that didn't move even one bit...love that UTG Airgun .22 Medium Profile Integral 1-Inch Ring Mount
