Marlin Model 60

Love mine. Stupid accurate out of the box; outshoots modded 10/22s that cost three times as much, with nothing more than a $25 scope on top. The tube mag takes a bit of getting used to, but now I won't go to a box mag. Never have to buy a second magazine because you've lost the old one in a field.

Like my model 60 well enough that put it into a Boyds stock. Great little rifle, accurate and underrated compared to 10/22s - last shot hold open, mechanical bolt lock too (just push in), take down without silly bolt buffer/pin, two action screws, etc...

I've been giving those stocks a hard eyeballing; I've been wanting a Boyd's Hunter in Royal Jacaranda for mine. I know you have to do some cutting to fit the tube mag; any real trick to it or is it pretty straightforward?

The 60 was a little bit of sanding to smooth out tool marks, 12 or so coats of Tru oil, and drop in. No inletting or other work was required.

Generally if need to do finishing prefer not to rely on my coordination (or lack there off) so will use something as a guide or tool (piece of lumber clamped parallel to action, socket for barrel channel...).
