Marlin Model 81 Won't Eject

Hey guys. I have an old Marlin 81 that won't eject spent casings properly. After taking it apart I feel as though the problem with it is on the left extractor on the bolt. Here's a picture.

Anyone have a part for this? Or know of a distributor who would carry odd-end .22 stuff?
 
Extractor, not ejector.

The LH extractor is supposed to be rounded, it just holds the case to the bolt face. The RH extractor actually does the pulling.

~ Clean the chamber well.
~ Look at the breech face for signs of the firing pin striking the barrel...and displacing metal.
~ Clean under the extractors.
~ Clean the bolt face well.

Is the left not supposed to have a tip on it, similar to the right side?

No, it should be rounded.

When the case gets to the ejector, if will start to pivot towards the right. The RH extractor will hold the case firmly and the LH extractor being rounded will allow the case to pivot.

If both extractors were sharp hooks, both sides of the case would be held firmly and the ejector would not be able to do it's job.

Your rifle will "extract" the shell from the chamber but, not "eject" them from the receiver?

I would (as I always do) start with a serious cleaning.

Your bolt looks like Mine (81DL here...) and, as stated above, the left extractor is rounded...Are you cycling the bolt "sharply"? I have encountered a "lazy" eject if I don't cycle my guns smartly/sharply...
 
Hey, thanks for the input.

It will leave a spent casing in the chamber. It will draw from the magazine, load into the chamber, fire without issue, ***Then*** when I draw the bolt back the spent casing remains in the barrel. However, if i wiggle the casing out slightly (1/8'' out of the barrel) and then move the bolt to meet it it will latch to the casing and eject w/o issue.

That's an extraction issue. You may be able to "eject".

If you cycle it a few times with a few rounds (without firing), will it extract them(unfired)?
If so, check your chamber for fouling/pits.
If not, Don't overlook the chamber then, check for crud in the extractors or, places they move. I use brake cleaner with the tube (and glasses!!!) to push gunk out before disassembling bolts...I'm timid. If it's no better after a couple of sessions, you may have to look at the spring under the extractors.

Be happy as, even using a jackknife to extract it in "single shot mode" it's still an accurate .22!
 
Cleaned about 3 lbs of #### out of the gun. It works like a charm now....

It's funny she has sat here in the family safe forever, my dad bought it 12+ years ago for $10 at an auction, brought it home it didn't cycle so he just assumed it was broke an there it sat until tonight...
 
They are great little guns and very accurate with a scope out to 200 yards. I have 3 of them and mounted scopes on two of them. with the longer barrel they have excellent reach. Many gophers cannot testify to this though. My bolts have the spring metal extractors , not the flat steel ones like yours. I have a friend ( old gunsmith) that stocks or makes many parts for these older guns of many makes.
