Marlin model 989 M2 question.

Hi, questions for the Marlin experts on this forum. I just got picked up a Marlin 989 M2. I had never seen one before but it looked fun so I bought it. A google search tells me mine was manufactured between 1965 and 1968 (no serial #) and the rear sight has been replaced and it's emplacement modified. Are these rifles desirable? Value was all over the place in my search results, what are they worth?

Very desirable, some sell the original rear sight alone for 200 - 300 dollars

Desirable. My dad still uses his from when he bought it back in the day. Very accurate for a semi auto manufactured in that era. I had one a couple of years ago but sold it to fund me staying home with my wife after she had open heart surgery. They've gone up since then from what I've seen. Between $200-450.

Thanks for the info, I just came back from testing it and was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy. I think it has just become my new favorite bunny rifle, dethroning my venerable Nylon 66 Black Apache. The M2's box magazine is a lot more user friendly than a tube mag.
