i just got one given to me by a close friend .he says thy call it a gooses gun. i have seen bolt action goose guns with long barrels but never a pump . This gun is a three inch mag what kind of value would this beast have today it is near mint 12g DUTCH

Marlin used to make their Model 55 bolt action with a 36" barrel. They did market a French made shotgun as their Model 120 MXR with a 40" barrel. Sold between 1971 and 1985. Came with a plain, full choked, 38 or 40 inch barrel. Supposedly a total of 6,984 made with the 40" barrel. There were other, um, normal barrel lengths too.

Haven't the slightest idea what it's worth. Don't imagine it'd be a lot.

I looked at some pictures and it looks like a copy of the Winchester model 12's. But worth a lot less $100-200 probably.

Wow! 40 inch barrel! I was about to post about a 38" barrel that came with a Mossberg 500 shotgun I bought recently, thinking this must be a record barrel length for a modern but semi-vintage shotgun......it is a Mossberg New Haven barrel labelled "Full Choke" but it is fitted with a Colonial Arms Super Steel Modified screw in choke.......two other 30" Mossberg barrels that came with it have Mossberg Accu Steel screw in chokes, both modified, and one barrel with a fixed full choke. I have been going to shorter barrels (24 and 26") and modified or IC chokes for waterfowl hunting over decoys so these long barrels really seem gigantic to me now. One learns so much from the CGN forum!

Would make an awesome trap gun! Remember, you'll be 10 inches closer to the target! :) And it'll be a lot quieter, too.

Seriously, it is a specialty gun. Not approved for steel shot with that fixed Full choke. So it will have limited buyers.
