I knew I was rolling the dice buying a Remlin, but I really wanted a GBSL, so I ordered one. Been hearing that the QC has improved, but my rifle arrived today and I sent it right back.

Here's an overhead view of the forend.

I can be a bit nit-picky at times when it comes to things like this, but thank your for validating my concern. Unacceptable for a $1400 rifle!

The QC issues of past and present are the reason I will only own the older JM models

I have a Remlin Guide Gun , it's a reliable , and accurate , rifle . That being said , I looked at three others that had QC issues before I picked mine . I wouldn't buy a Marlin product unless I had a good look at it first , they still knock out a few dogs . Their QC has improved from the initial Remlin rifles , but they still have a ways to go . Sorry to hear you got a bad one , frustrating to say the least , for that kind of money , I don't think it's to much to ask for when you expect a decent product .
