"Marlin Safety" lever action

I have a very rusty old lever gun that has what appears to be "Marlin Safety" engraved in the top of the receiver. The Marlin website talks about the first side eject lever in 1889 called the Marlin Safety

Anyone have any info on this gun??

Update- Did a little research -
I guess a lot of them had that on the top of the reciever. It is a side eject model - too pitted and worn on the side to read anything. 24" round barrel. Rounded (as in oval like) lever. Short caliber as the loading port is only about 1.25 inches.

Is there any marking on the tang? If it's side eject with a short loading gate, chances are it's an 1889 or 1894 (or possibly an 1891 side loader in 22). Most 1894's were marked on the tang though, 1889's were not. Does it have a clip on the bottom tang to hold the lever tight to the tang? If it does it's an 1889.
The caliber marking should be on top of the barrel very close to the receiver.

"Marlin Safety" referred to the fact they were side eject, which due to the fact that some ammo of that era was prone to bursting cases, was considered safer than the top eject Winchesters.
