I'm in the market for a new semi-22. I read quite abit on this forum on the 10/22 and Rem 597. Any thoughts or feedback on the Marlin lines ( Model 60's in the tube and Model 7000's etc in the clip feed???

I have had experence with the older clipfed(not sure on model, looks like a m1carbine) Seems to be quite reliable and accurate. Im not sure what the quality on the new ones are like, and whats now plastic that was metal.

In tube form, your talking about the model 60. That my friend was the most accurate rifle I haver ever owned...Period!

I mounted a 6-18X banner on it, and I literally shot the tacks out of my buddies target. It is also the rifle I made my longest shot on any animal. I've had this discussion before, and wont state the distance, but it was beyond .22 range. Or so they say. :D I also love the ease of loading a tube on the go. Now I own clip fed rifles, and after a days shooting, my fingers get mighty sore. I'd stand behind the 60 any day of the week.

The Model 60 is the best selling 22 in history for a reason.....very accurate at a price you can't beat.

As for a detachable magazine feed unit....I believe the 7000 is discontinued. I'm sure you could find a used one or some NOS, but look into the 795.....same rifle just not a heavy barrel.

I've got a 795 and it is awesome. Extremely light, I can carry it all day in the gopher patch with no problem. Shoots all ammo well, and mine shoot Winchester Super X's like there's no tomorrow. Easy to clean and reliable....I would recommend this rifle to anyone.

P.S> Also nice to have an extra mag or two. Give you time to take a break from shooting for a bit, reload the mags, have a drink, let the gophers pop up again.

I have a Marlin 60 bought new three years ago. Pleased with accuracy, and in maybe 4000 rounds fired- I have never experienced a jam.. 14 round capacity is nice if you get into a running rabbit!
