Just get a Henry Big Boy Carbine. I don't know if they have them in 45-70 but I'm waiting on mine in .44 mag!
Deeper pockets $$$Bob...just grow longer arms
Nechako Outdoors has been posting pics of them on their social media. Looks good if you are into that sort of thing.![]()
Boom, that was fast...! get them while you can!![]()

Now, I believe they have the 45-70 Magnum loads by Buffalo Bore. Get a few boxes, and get some video when you try it. Should be an interesting outing. If you really want to man up, replace the factory stock with a nice wooden one with a brass buttplate.
Seriously, though, I love my GG, so this would be even more fun. Synthetic is more practical, as well, if a little less aesthetic. Enjoy
You can't get "a couple inches lopped off". The only way to get a 16" barrel is to buy a new gun with one already installed, or to have the barrel replaced with one that is manufactured at 16". If you have a barrel cut below 18" you will have made a prohibited weapon
I think you can cut a couple inches off and re-crown.. as long as you don't make the rifle shorter that 26"... you can't however do that to a shotgun.
Nope. Check your laws. 26" overall does apply because it's a manual action, not a semi. However; it also states that if you cut/alter a barrel to be less than 18" you have created a prohibited device. You can install a shorter barrel that is manufactured at that length, but you cannot cut/alter. Heck, you could install an 8" barrel on a lever, as long as the O/A lenth was still 26" it would be non-restricted, but the barrel has to be manufactured at that length. Although I really don't think I'd like to shoot a 45-70 with an 8" barrel! Yikes!!
