Gday fellas,
a Question for those in the know..
I have a XL7 30-06 at Home in Aus, I really like the 30-06 Calibre for Hunting the Sambar, however I do have a bit of a itch that i might have to scratch in the following 12 months or so....
I would want a 338 Federal for a good run on the Deer however i was goin to sell and trade an buy rifles, a Good fulla on CGN mentioned about the savage barrel nut would make for rebarreling fairly easy.... an maybe cheaper. (i know gunsmiths)
So im wondering, What barrels would Swap on easily? (do Savage?)
alternatively, is it just a matter of sourcing a 'blank' and having the thread cut to suit the Marlins and screw it all on?
assuming it needs head space checking etc?
its unlikely i can find another 338 fed chambered Barrel in Aus, so looks like it will be a 'custom' / New job...
the XL7 will allow for long seating in the magazine etc....
Does it also mean il be able to Unscrew the 338 fed and get it back to being a 30-06 with relative ease?
Thank you
