Marlin XLR and LEVERevoulution

the LR ammo isnt exactly sleek

the BC is rated at .335 for the 160 gr. 30 cal

that bullet at 2400 fps isnt bad, but keep in mind a 308 WInchester can throw a 200 grain bullet with a BC of .480 at this speed

The 30-30 leverevolution was advertised as having 300 yard deer killing ability and compared to the .308....
I'm just stirrin the pot...

seriously though the technology is fascinating... and any improvement is good... I would really like a Marlin in .450 now

.30-30 (.308")

160 grain Evolution - SD .240, BC .330
150 grain RN Interlock - SD .226, BC .186
170 grain FP Interlock - SD .256, BC .189

.45-70/.450 Marlin (.458")

325 grain Evolution - SD .221, BC .230
300 grain HP - SD .204, BC .197
350 grain RN Interlock - SD .238, BC .189

XLR Purchased!

I just bought the Marlin XLR in .444 with two boxes of the Leverevolution on the way from SIR. Should be a couple of weeks as SIR always takes longer for the registration to finalize. I can't friggin wait!!!:D A little concerned about the recoil but what the hell, who notices that when your facing a 900lb Bull Moose. So who shot one, and what did they think about the shoulder impact?

Haven't tried the 444 - but i've shot a fair bit of hornady 'light mag' in other cartridges and the recoil is almost the same as 'standard' cartridges. I doubt you'll notice a huge difference.

put a decelerator recoil pad on it and you'll be fine. you're gonna love it!
