Well.....for those that remember I picked one of these up 2 months ago. I finally had time to go to the range on Sat and give her a whirl.

Gun is junk.....I will have to sell it.

I used factory ammo...the new Hornady Leverevolution ammo...265gr. scope was a Swift Optics 1.5-4.5x cause I had one here.

Very first 3 shot group at 100yrds.

I had another member with me....Steelco. Handed it to him for a couple of rounds next.

Guess I will need to shoot something with it now and see how the bullet performs.

I got a 1.5" group at 100 yards with my 1895XLR with factory 300gr Federals and iron sights.

I may have to scope it just to find out how accurate it's capable of being.

444

I had the same gun in 444 shot 2 wild boars with the leverevelution ammo. both 1 shot kills went through both front shoulders on both pigs and drop them. one at 45 yrds and one trotting at 104 yrds. Devestating trauma when we skinned them out. I was with a guy who was shooting a 45-70 with federal 300gr hollow points he shot his boar at 30 yrds twice to take it down. neither went through. I Laughed and asked if he wanted to use my 444 on his next one.

Hee, hee, hee...I'll bet he thought that was pretty funny, huh? :D

I have a 1985 (??) in 444. I cut the barrel back to 20" to make it handier. The 265 and 300 grain bullets are great for handloading in it.

It cries for a 2 1/2X scope with a big post reticle.
I've made mention of this on other threads, to compensate for eyesight that isn't quite what it used to be, for load testing and hunting, I've mounted scopes on my 444S and my 1895GS. On my 444 I have a 1.5 x 4.5 Bushnell Scopechief VI and on my .45-70 I have a Leupold Vari-XII, 1 x 4 and for access to open sights if needed, I've used Weaver pivot mounts. Those combo's have worked well so far.

I have an older .444 and I absolutely love the gun, at a hundred yards 1.5 -2" groups where the norm for it using a 4x scope. All was great until the scope got lose and started wandering around like a drunkard in a winery  (the scope took a bang, and the gun has sat in the rack for a while now.

I will say though the design of the stock, and the fit for me made the gun not to bad to shoot for prolonged periods from the bench which was nice. Can't wait to give it a whirl one day with a black bear or such.

I mounted a 1.5-6 x 20 mm scope on my .444.....It outshoots my buddie's Sako 75, boy is he ever pissed. A $579.00 lever vs a $1500 bolt ---- yuk :D

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is normal...but I do like it.
