I bought one a while ago and it seems that the sights have been put on off centre. My front sight has to be put off to one side so much so that it is almost out of the dove tail. What can be done for this? Is this a warranty issue? Who in Canada looks after Marlin warranty?

Thats just the way they come out of the box.Lots of fellows liken them, to a shotgun,as they pattern more than group.Shoot 40 to50 rounds at a 4x8 sheet of plywood, and you get what i mean.Probably not farther than 25 yards from your target. If cant hit the plywood, just keep moving closer. They are a very entertaining gun.Good luck.Gary.

^ Ok I know nothing at all about these guns other than the few threads i've read about someone who just bought one. HOWEVER i'm calling total BS on this post above, Lots of guys bought these guns and I've never seen one single thread about them having such an issue. I'd say that their is something off with the sights or the gun in questions and that it is not a product wide issue.

I was in the market for a lever action in 357 recently, and I avoided Marlin altogether because of a great deal of problems being reported with their recent rifles.

sounds like you bought remmitized marlin.
Since marlin had been taken over by remington few years back.. might be wrong. they have fell down hard since action, nuts, trig, sights (main prob) were all failing due to remington pooping out parts .
would just take it to gunsmith pay 50 buks for him to yank it back to norm position if you dont want to deal with it your self.
warrenty for sights are warthless since they prob wont give you a new rifle.. (you could try) you would pay shipping and would take months and months for warrenty to kick it.
or if you have those plubming plyers, crank it back your self. just make sure to wrap the sight and barrel with cloth. but gunsmith would do just fine...

Had the opportunity to shoot 6 or 7 new marlington products this year at the range(spare range officer) and all i can say is the finition and the slick marlin action is gone, many failures to feed to, what's sad about this is now the word is spreading how QC suck, that will have an effect of creating a generation of non sellable not wanted rifles, remember when gm chrysler and ford went down and were replace by japanese that what will happen with the marlington stuff, if i except the rimfire categorie, i am tru buying marlington products until proven contrary... JP.

My older GG is very accurate. I mean 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards. I use handloaded 405 gr cast with a gas check. About 1400 FPS. I use a 1-4 scope.

Newer marlins tend to suck. When reminington took over the quality went south.

Find someone with an older gun and you will see what I mean.

marlins forever

I tried a 70 year old marlin that looked like new,it also would not cycle, and was as accurate as a pistol. Not a new thing,so do not sound so surprised! If you got a good accurate one that functions, that is rare,so hold onto it.But not too tightly or you will have to carve the fancy stock,as pictured on this site.

gtrussell....!
They are a great hunting rifle although Marlin - Remington models...! i would be aware of. Alot of QC problems they have had since Remington came aboard. I would send it back and or get a complete refund. Your best bet is to look for a pre-remington Marlin guide gun on Gunnutz. I hope this helps..I do feel for you. Good luck! Let us know how you make out.

I own a pre Remington guide gun and have shot those belonging to friends and i would go along with the 1.5 inch groups at 100 metres using iron sights! At 25 yards the worst shots would still have edges touching.

X2. All the Marlins i have owned over the years really shot well. My Stainless Guide Gun and Marlin .444P both shoot under 1.5" all day long
@ 100m off the bench. I use a Leupold VX-III 1.5-5x20mm on the two. They are alot of fun to shoot. They will go to my grave with me...Like them alot...great value!

Well, not sure how to answer this post.Your wrong on most all points.Your not my friend, not going to kick me in the nuts. The original poster probably will not buy a used gun, to replace the new one he just bought.Would you?I do not expect an answer.Marlins are not great hunting rifles,as you said.Statements your correct about.Marlin has quality issues,as most other posts have stated before you.Fairly sure you do not have to tell the OP that,as Iam sure he is quite aware of,after he opened the box.

Do not feed the trolls people.

As for Marlin quality, I have two pre-rem guide guns (one ported from 1998, one unported from 2005) both bought used, both cycle and shoot everything I can throw at them (handloads, hard cast, factory loads). I have also shot/owned various 336 variants, including a 30AS that my dad bought in his youth. I have never had the accuracy issues described here. If anyone is shooting patterns rather than groups, maybe marksmanship is the issue, not the gun itself.

Sounds like the OP bought a new one,as he was wondering about warranty.Telling him you have bought older models and have had no problems with them, probably isnt the solution he was looking for.
