The only thing you are correct about is the quality of newer remington made Marlins....pre remington Marlins are quality firearms, your story about your experience with a 70 year old marlin being crappy would be an exception.

New marlins are pretty bad, try Reliable for warranty. Have seen a few 94 Marlins with the marlin jam. But never seen a Marlin print like a shotgun. My 2005 1895gs will do an inch to an inch and a half at a hundred yards with winny 300 grainers, and so would a triple 4 and five or six 30/30's I've played with over the years. Hopefully you can get this dealt with. Don't let this throw you off Marlin's, they are a great lever!!!!
 
yup every company or brand has lemons. marlin just took the gold medal for being "lemon of the yearSS" after rem took over... but im sure there are diamonds hiding somewhere!! unless they throw marlins away, rem might actually step it up next year or two with improved "new" marlins with killer prices. (my hope..)

Actually, my post was directed at your comments. If the OP has an issue with a new gun, it's a warranty problem as others posted before me. The only person posting here who seems to be offering nothing constructive.....is you. This will be my last post in this thread, as I said, do not feed the trolls.
 
I've had two pre-Cerberus Marlins, one of which I still have, the.444 Marlin. Mine works flawlessly, shoots great and is a pleasure to hold, mind you it's barrel is proof marked "JM" which is what your looking for. I've also had the opportunity to make side by side comparison and it's pretty obvious that the new ones are made by an entirely different company, poor finish on both steel and wood, the action smoothness is non-existent. I just wish Remington would quit calling them Marlins, 'cause Marlin they aren't.

Gravel Agency out of Quebec will take care of your needs .They are Marlins service centre,Ask for June rondeau ,I got quality service on 4 Marlins without problem and good customer service ......Your above problem is an easy fix turn around time should be 4 weeks

Do you know what the fix is? It maybe just as easy and cost effective to take it to a guns smith and have him fix it for me as someone above mentioned.

Many chaps from marlinowners have had this issue [front sight off centre right or left ]I personally did not have these issues ,mine were receiver alignment issues on 91 serial numbered guns .I would send it too Gravel ,you will have to pay postage ,but Gunsmiths are also expensive .It is your call ,please dont listen about those Marlin guns not shooting accurately .They will follow most bolt guns with ease I have 3 in 308mx and 338 mx that will rival any bolt gun in 308 and 338 class period ,,,,[.75 @100yards] ,when not being hammered with sks brass or left alone with no noise around me

She also re-imbursed my postal fees ,so ask her to help you out

The Pre-Remington Marlins were great rifles. The new 'Marlington' rifles are pretty sketchy. Something like a 50% warranty return, from what I'm told. Stay away!!

I have 2 Pre-Remington M-1895 Marlins; a M-1895GS, and a M-1895 XLR, both .45-70s. They are both great rifles.

If you want a Marlin, you've got to find one built before Remington f**ked them all up.

So if you cannot find an older Marlin, and you want a quality lever action rifle today, buy one of the Miroku re-pro's that are built in Japan. The M-1895 & M-1886 Mirokus in particular are great; best lever guns built today.

I have 3 of the Miroku re-pros, a .270Win, a .30-06 and a .405Win. They are all awesome, right down to the new & improved tang safety (a subject of debate by the old-school guys).
