Marlins New Bolt Rifle XL7

I understand and am certainly a Savage rifle fan. That's why it took so long to try the Marlin. However, the stock and the trigger on this rifle are definitely superior to the Savage sporters. Perhaps this will encourage Savage to upgrade their product a bit.

Its understandable that as a new offering Marlin would choose only a few chamberings to keep the initial start up investment lower. And I'm hoping they catch on at least enough for Marlin to expand to a lot more cartridge choices in the near future. And if that happens I'm thinking they will sell really well. ..

Nice to see competition even if it is a clone-job.Now that Marlin is flogging bolts, surely it is only a matter of time before Ron Coburn brings back the 99.

The 270 is here! :)

Been -35 for the past ten days, so haven't gotten back to the range with the '06. Will get back up there after Christmas, and be back here with a report on both rifles.

Have a great Christmas, and may the Good Lord bless all of you and yours abundantly in 2009!

I hate you Ted, your biggest problem up there is finding a place you cannot shoot. A very merry Christmas to you and your family, Iain.

How are the actual range reports guys? looking to get either a stevens or an XL7 for my teenager. I know the stevens are great for accuracy but they look like a toy stock. If the XL7 can match the accuracy, I might go with it (if I can find one?)
