I just ordered a couple of spare 9mm 1911 magazines (Mag026 10 round) from Marstar for my new NP29.

Any comments on quality, reliability from guys who have tryed them?

They were out of Mecgar magazines when I called.

I would wait for the Mec-gar mags. I have tried lots of aftermarket mags & have never had any luck with any of them...except the Mec-Gar mags

I have 2 Norinco mags. One that came with the gun and one extra I bought.

All though they are a little rough, I have never had any problems with them in the past 2 years I've had them.

The only complaint I have is that you can not disassemble them and the springs are exceptionally hard.

Female, as well as a lot of my male friends have a hard time loading them. Usually by the end of the day I'm missing a lot of skin off my thumb from loading for them.

I wish I could help, but my 2 NP29 factory mags are put away in the hard case. I shoot with Pachmayr's, Metalform and MecGar magazines all the time now. The original ones never gave me problems in the past, I just put them aside for the eventual resale of the NP29. I just hope I never have to sell it. It's a keeper.

Cheers,

Barney

firstsks : If you goto www.m1911.org/stripin1.htm there are complete disassembling instructions and half way through them are instructions on stripping a 1911 mag. Having said that , the NORINCO 9mm mags may be different, but it is worth a look.

Norinco mags can be disassembled. Just remove the follower and clean away. They work but are pretty cheap in my opinion. There are plenty good mags to be had from the states for not much more money and teh quality is there.

I have used metalform mags in my STI Trojan and did in my NP 29 before I sold it.

Take Care
